A Brief History

Cringleford JFC

A Brief History – 2004 to Date

Cringleford Junior FC started with 3 dads and their sons going down to Cringleford recreation ground on a Sunday morning in the Autumn of 2004 to have a kick around.

Following increasing interest, the club officially formed in the summer of 2005, and in the September of that year the club had an U10 team in the Norfolk Christian Youth League.

The following years has seen the club rapidly grow in numbers. Currently there are over 250 young people playing for 20 squads in the NCYFL Under 7’s to under 16’s. We also have a girls football school that trains every Saturday morning. The oldest boys have now moved to adult football and the 18/19 new season will see a Cringleford adult team playing Sunday League football. Cringleford also have two very competitive veterans football teams, they both play in the Norfolk FA Veterans League.

Back in 2004 when the club was first formed, future Norwich City U18 captain Alfie Payne was one of the first players to ever play for Cringleford JFC. It goes without saying that everyone at CJFC is immensely proud of what Alfie has since achieved.

The club has around 50 coaches, all of which hold a current FA DBS, and the majority of them have become FA level 1 coaches, Several of our coaches are FA level 2 qualified coaches, the aim is for all of our coaches to achieve this. Most of our coaches started as parents on the sidelines coming along every week to see their children enjoying training and matches.

Our home ground is Cringleford Rec (NR4 6XF) and you will find the majority of our squads playing or training there on a Saturday morning.

The club is a FA Charter Standard which we achieved in 2013; this reflects how well the club is run.

The club continues to grow, and each year, aims to bring in a new age group as the rest of the children move up through the age brackets. At Cringleford, you will find a group of people whose main aim is to enjoy their football. From coaches to players, our focus is on our children having fun and enjoying their football development.

We are always looking for volunteers to assist in coaching our young people and assistance is given to develop our coaches’ knowledge and skills.
